Philadelphia – An update to the work schedule for the North American Streetscape Project includes the temporary closure of Master Street to through traffic at American Street, announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. Effective Monday, September 23rd, vehicles traveling west on Master Street will be detoured at American Street, with access to Northbound American Street only. The closure will allow crews to safely reconstruct the intersection of American and Master Streets. The closure is scheduled to last for the next three to four weeks.

American Street will remain open to vehicles traveling North and South. Vehicles traveling South on American Street may continue on American Street or access Master Street by turning west onto Master Street. Vehicles traveling North on American Street will not be granted access to Master Street.

Work is being performed by Tony DePaul and Son Contractors.  The value of the construction contract is $26.4 M, and it is being funded with a Federal TIGER Grant as well as Federal Funds and Streets and Water Department funds.
