By the Streets Department’s Sanitation Division

WHO: Streets Department’s Sanitation Division

WHAT: Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

WHEN: Thursday – July 19 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: State Road and Ashburner Street

Citizens are invited to participate in a free citywide Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event sponsored by the Streets Department’s Sanitation Division.  This event provides citizens with an opportunity to recycle or dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste accumulated in their homes or garages. No waste materials generated by a business will be accepted. This event will be held rain or shine.

As an added incentive for dropping off hazardous waste materials, residents can earn Philacycle points for participating in the HHW event. Residents can download the Recyclebank app on their phones and then click ‘Check In For Points’ on the app while at the event. A hand out with step by step directions will be given to participants.  Philacycle, formerly Recycling Rewards, is a partnership program between the Philadelphia Streets Department and Recyclebank that offers Philly residents the chance to get rewarded for cutting down on waste, learning online, and getting involved in the community. Learn more at https://www.recyclebank.com/philacycle.

For additional information and a list of materials eligible for drop off at the HHW event, please contact the Streets Department’s Customer Affairs Unit at (215) 686-5560 or visit the Streets Department’s website at http://www.philadelphiastreets.com/hazardous-waste/.
