Full, Weekend Closures Scheduled for July from Ridge Avenue to Wissahickon Avenue for Lincoln Drive Restoration Project

PHILADELPHIA – Lincoln Drive between Ridge Avenue and Wissahickon Avenue is scheduled for full weekend closures, beginning Friday at 9:00 p.m. through Monday at 6:00 a.m. throughout the remainder of July, announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. As part of the next phase of the Lincoln Drive Restoration Project, the weekend closures are slated to occur the next three consecutive weekends including July 13th - 16th, July 20th - 22nd and July 27th - 29th. The weekend closures will allow construction crews to perform drainage improvements and install a new storm sewer along Lincoln Drive.

Beginning at 9:00 p.m. on Fridays, motorists using Lincoln Drive should expect to be detoured between Ridge and Wissahickon Avenues.  The closure will continue throughout the weekend, with Lincoln Drive reopening to traffic no later than 6:00 a.m. on Mondays.  Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this phase of the project.  The overnight daily closures in effect since May 14, will continue from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Variable message boards will display closure announcements at major approaches to Lincoln Drive providing motorists advance notification of the closure. Overhead digital boards found along the I-76 corridor will display Lincoln Drive closure announcements courtesy of PennDOT.

The contractor, A.P. Construction Inc., and the City of Philadelphia expect construction for the Lincoln Drive Restoration Project to continue through December 2019.   The Streets Department thanks the citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during the upcoming construction phase.  Stay updated on the progress of the Lincoln Drive Restoration Project at http://www.philadelphiastreets.com/transportation/lincoln-drive-project.
