Construction Update for the North American Street Streetscape Project

Philadelphia – Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today that as part of the North American Streetscape Project, Cecil B. Moore Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic at American Street for the week of February 11th. Beginning Monday, February 11th at 6:30 a.m. through Saturday, February 16th vehicular traffic should expect to be detoured. American Street will remain open at Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

This closure is required to complete roadway reconstruction at the intersection of American Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue. Detour signs will be placed on Cecil B. Moore Avenue in each direction to notify motorists of the closure.

Work is being performed by Tony DePaul and Son Contractors.  The value of the construction contract is $26.4 M, and it is being funded with a Federal TIGER Grant as well as Federal Funds and Streets and Water Department funds.

The American Street Project supports the City of Philadelphia’s Vision Zero goals by prioritizing safety in street design. Vision Zero aims to eliminate all traffic-related deaths and severe injuries on Philadelphia streets by 2030, while increasing safety, health, and mobility for all. Learn more:
