CAMPAIGN

The most visible and inspirational part of this movement is our UnLitter Us public service campaign. It is meant to give you a voice through the mouths of some of this City’s most gifted urban poets. We asked them to create and perform original poems that express their outrage over litter and their dream of seeing it stopped. Wait till you hear their powerful words and impassioned performances! We believe they will inspire you to keep up the good work and, more importantly, change the attitudes of those who thoughtlessly trash our streets and sidewalks.

UnLitter Us messages will be on TV, radio, the web, and public transit - messages that grab hold and don’t let go. If any voices can turn apathy into action, these voices can. We hope you add yours to the outcry.

Stopping litter is a priority for Mayor Nutter, the Streets Department and the entire Administration. They'll help carry the UnLitter Us banner and reinforce this important movement at every opportunity. With so many powerful voices behind us, yours included, a litter free Philly is in our future.

Don't forget to show your support on your site or blog by posting one of our UnLitter Us partner banners.

STREETS DEPARTMENT REOPENS 15TH STREET BRIDGE
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15

Vehicle Weight Restriction Established

PHILADELPHIA - The 15th Street Bridge between Callowhill and Spring Garden Streets opened to vehicular traffic today, with a "three-ton, no trucks or bus weight restrictions," Streets Commissioner David J. Perri announced today. All trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles are required to detour to alternate travel routes for the entire length of the bridge.

The bridge was closed January 2013 due to severe deterioration to a section of the bridge. The Streets Department's Bridge Maintenance Unit re-enforced this section to strengthen the bridge.

The Streets Department thanks citizens for their patience and cooperation during this project.
