Recycling Presentations

School Presentations

The Philadelphia Recycling Office is available to your teachers for help with recycling related questions and programs. The Recycling Office has informative classroom presentations about the City's curbside collection program available to all school age children.

Community Groups

The Philadelphia Recycling Office is available to your community or environmental group for help with recycling related questions and programs. The Recycling Office can help in many ways. First, we can lead an informative discussion about the beneficial reasons for the City's recycling program. We can present this program at your meeting location. Second, we’re available to assist with any special events your group is planning by providing a staffed table of recycling information. Third, we have a mascot named "Curby Bucket" that may be used in a larger venue. He doesn't speak, but he may hand out information and be part of a larger environmental or community theme.

The Philadelphia Recycling Office hopes that by giving citizens in the City specific information about recycling, we can increase the amount of recyclables removed from the solid waste stream.

For more information, call the Philadelphia Recycling Hotline at 215-685-RECYCLE (7329).

STREETS DEPARTMENT REOPENS 15TH STREET BRIDGE
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15

Vehicle Weight Restriction Established

PHILADELPHIA - The 15th Street Bridge between Callowhill and Spring Garden Streets opened to vehicular traffic today, with a "three-ton, no trucks or bus weight restrictions," Streets Commissioner David J. Perri announced today. All trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles are required to detour to alternate travel routes for the entire length of the bridge.

The bridge was closed January 2013 due to severe deterioration to a section of the bridge. The Streets Department's Bridge Maintenance Unit re-enforced this section to strengthen the bridge.

The Streets Department thanks citizens for their patience and cooperation during this project.
