OVERVIEW

One Goal. Many Hands. These bins will help us become America's Greenest City!

What it is

Philly Throws Green is a new city program that will help keep our streets cleaner, save money and improve the environment. It's made possible by these super high-tech trash and recycling bins, the most advanced and most efficient in the world. You'll be seeing them on street corners throughout downtown Philadelphia. Learn more

How it Works

Solar-Powered Trash Compactors - The solar panel on top of each trash bin collects and stores energy from the sun. When the trash inside reaches a certain level, it is automatically compacted. The bin holds five times the amount of compacted trash and soiled paper than a regular bin holds! Learn more

How it Helps

Philadelphia will have more of these new bins than any other American city. Here's how that benefits all of us-economically and environmentally: Solar-Powered Trash Compactors and On-The-Go Recycling Stations. Learn more

Sponsor a Green Message

Have a green corporate message or green initiative you want people to know about? Place it where the environmental action is. Philly's new solar-powered litter basket compactors and new recycling bins are a great media vehicle that helps show your commitment to improve the environment.
