STREETS DEPARTMENT TO KICK-OFF CITY’S CLEANING SEASON

AT PMBC BLOCK CAPTAIN RALLY

WHAT: More than 1,500 Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee (PMBC) Block Captains will join the Philadelphia Streets Department to kick-off the 2018 cleaning season at the annual Block Captain Rally.

WHEN: Saturday, March 17

Tabling and Workshops: 9 a.m. to noon

Rally Program: 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: The Pennsylvania Convention Center, First Floor, 13th and Arch Entrance*

Rally Program: Room 113ABC

WHO:

§ Mayor Jim Kenney

§ Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams

§ Dozens of City officials and guests

§ More than 1,500 PMBC Block Captains

§ West Powelton Steppers

VISUALS:

§ 50+ organizations will provide information and resources

§ Workshops provided by: PMBC, Keep Philadelphia Beautiful, Recyclebank, Mural Arts, Fire Department, Home Depot, Office of Emergency Management, Water Department, and PGW

§ Entertainment, including a DJ and live music, the West Powelton Steppers and Drum Squad, face painting and balloon twisters for the Junior Block Captains

§ Mascot appearances by: Mascot Sun Ray and Curby Bucket

MORE: The theme of this year’s rally is ‘Beautifying our City together one block at a time,’ and aims to encourage Philadelphia’s residents and Block Captains to continue to unite their neighborhoods year-round, and to work collaboratively to achieve a cleaner, safer and more beautiful Philadelphia.
