STREETS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET CLOSURES FOR WESTMORELAND STREET PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REMOVAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  March 16, 2018

STREETS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET CLOSURES FOR

WESTMORELAND STREET PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REMOVAL PROJECT

Traffic Advisory for Construction Work in the Intersection of 4th and Westmoreland Streets

Philadelphia – Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today that starting on Monday, March 19, the intersection of 4th Street and Westmoreland Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, as part of the Westmoreland Street Pedestrian Bridge Removal Project.  This closure is required so the contractor, H&K Group, can perform necessary construction work in the intersection.  This closure will last for approximately two weeks so the contractor can install new drainage facilities in the intersection.

Starting approximately Monday, April 2, the intersection will be completely closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic to allow the contractor to fully reconstruct the new sidewalks and roadway.  The complete closure will last for approximate two months.  The intersection is expected to be reopened to traffic by the end of May 2018. During the closure residents will be able to access 4th Street during construction activities.

The Streets Department thanks the citizens for their patience and cooperation during the construction phase.
