RESTORATION OF 3RD STREET BETWEEN WALNUT AND CHESTNUT STREETS

3rd Street between Walnut and Chestnut Streets is expected to be restored and open to traffic by Tuesday, May 30 at 4pm, said Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. If work being done is completed sooner than expected, the street may open earlier.

Streets Department crews began excavation and restoration repairs Friday morning. Additional repairs are expected to be completed Tuesday morning and the street permanently restored and open to traffic by Tuesday afternoon.

The street has been closed since Wednesday while Water Department crews made repairs to a 8 inch water main break. The Water Dept repaired the main and handed the restoration of the street over to the Streets Department on Thursday.

The street will remain closed until repairs are completed. The Streets Department thanks citizens for their patience and cooperation during this temporary closure.
