STREETS DEPARTMENT TO KICK-OFF CLEANING SEASON AT PMBC BLOCK CAPTAIN RALLY

WHAT:         More than 1,500 Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee (PMBC) Block Captains will join the Philadelphia Streets Department to kick-off the 2017 cleaning season at the annual Block Captain Rally.

WHEN:           Saturday, March 25

                        Tabling and Workshops: 9 a.m. to noon

                        Rally Program: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE:        The Pennsylvania Convention Center, First Floor, 12th and Arch Entrance

                        Rally Program: Room 103ABC

WHO:            Mayor Jim Kenney
                       Managing Director Michael DiBerardinis 
                       Commissioner Carlton Williams, Department of Streets
                       Deputy Commissioner Keith Warren, Department of Streets
                       More than 1,500 PMBC Block Captains
                       Dozens of additional City officials and guests
                       West Powelton Steppers

50+ organizations will provide information and resources

Workshops provided by: PMBC, Keep Philadelphia Beautiful, Recyclebank, Mural Arts, Office of Sustainability, Philly Compost, Office of Emergency Management, and more.

Entertainment, including a DJ and live music, the West Powelton Steppers and Drum Squad, face painting and balloon twisters for the Junior Block Captains

Mascot appearances by: Mascot Sun Ray and Curby Bucket

MORE:         The theme of this year’s rally is Zero Starts With One, which encourages Philadelphia residents and Block Captains to work together all year long to keep their neighborhoods clean. Zero Starts With One is one unified commitment to improving the City for all who live, work and play here. A litter-free Philadelphia starts with one vision, one person, one block, and one cleanup.
