Full, Weekend Closure Scheduled from Wayne Avenue to Wissahickon Avenue for Lincoln Drive

Full, Weekend Closure Scheduled from Wayne Avenue to Wissahickon Avenue
for Lincoln Drive Restoration Project

Closures for Friday, June 15 through Monday, June 18

PHILADELPHIA – Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced the next phase in the Lincoln Drive Restoration Project. Lincoln Drive between Wayne Avenue and Wissahickon Avenue is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m.  Friday, June 15 to 6 a.m. Monday, June 18 to allow for the installation of a new 42” storm sewer at Harvey Street. Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 15, motorists using Lincoln Drive should expect to be detoured between Wayne Avenue and Wissahickon Avenue (see Map below).  This closure will continue through the weekend until Lincoln Drive is reopened to traffic by 6 a.m. Monday, June 18.  Additional variable message boards will be placed at major approaches to provide motorists advance notification of the closure. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time frame.

The contractor, A.P. Construction, Inc. will use this time to install a 42” storm sewer that is approximately 20’ deep that crosses Lincoln Drive at Harvey Street. Currently, the contractor is working on Harvey Street north of Lincoln Drive installing another section of storm sewer.

Completion of the entire Lincoln Drive Restoration Project will require day and night work.  For the majority of the project, two inbound lanes will be maintained for the morning peak hour traffic and two outbound lanes will be maintained during the evening peak hour traffic.  Night work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. will involve full closures of the roadway during the overnight hours with signed detour routes in place.  Because of the nature of the work there will be some overnight and weekend closures of the drive and there also may be some additional lane closures during peak hours.  Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

The Streets Department thanks the citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during the upcoming construction phase.  Stay updated on the progress of the Lincoln Drive Restoration Project at http://www.philadelphiastreets.com/transportation/lincoln-drive-project.
