STREETS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES BRIDGE CLOSURE AND WORK TO THE ‘B’ & SOMERSET STREET BRIDGE
Streets Commissioner David J. Perri announced today that the ‘B’ & Somerset Street Bridge will be closed for three weeks beginning Wednesday, August 20 for scheduled bridge rehabilitation work.

Race Street Pedestrian Crossing gates have been reopened as of Tuesday, 7/15
The Race St. gates have been repaired and the crossings has been re-opened. The Streets department anticipates making a formal announcement later this week that the re-opening is permanent, pending additional testing and confirmation.

Race Street Railroad Gates Closure
Due to the severe flooding that occurred on April 30, the automatic gates at the Race Street crossing were severely damaged. The gates will be closed until repairs can be made.

New Sanitation Convenience Center Policies: Effective Tuesday, May 27th
The Streets Department recognizes that population changes have resulted in fewer households having personal vehicles and that on some occasions households generate large amounts of trash. Effective Tuesday, May 27 the Streets Department will institute the following regulations for residents visiting our Sanitation Convenience Centers

Commercial Corridor Cleaning - MARCH 17, 2014
The Philadelphia Streets Department will resume Commercial Corridor cleaning on March 17th. The service was suspended over the winter months due to low temperatures and ice.

SANITATION UPDATE - March 2, 2014
Due to the pending snow storm expected to begin late Sunday, March 2, Sanitation trucks will be diverted to snow operations. Monday's trash and recycling collections will be suspended. Residents whose collection day is Monday must hold their collections until next Monday. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank citizens in advance for their patience. The forecast snow accumulations will require Sanitation trucks to fitted with plows to assist with snow operations.

SANITATION UPDATE - February 28, 2014
Sanitation Update: For the week of February 24 residents should set out their trash and recyclables on their regularly scheduled collection day at their normal pickup location. If collections are not picked up on the regular day they will be picked up the next morning. Due to the double volume of Tuesday collections, crews will be running a half day behind schedule for the week. Crews are attempting to get to all driveway collections this week. Any driveway collections missed because of ice will be picked up when the driveways clear. If rear driveways are still too icy for Sanitation trucks to safely travel on, materials will be collected when the driveways are passable. Crews will be working through the weekend to collect delayed collections.

Due to the pending snow storm expected to begin early Tuesday, February 18, Sanitation trucks will be diverted to snow operations. Tuesday trash and recycling collections will be suspended. Residents whose collection day is Tuesday must hold their collections until next week. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank citizens in advance for their patience. The forecast snow accumulations will require Sanitation trucks to fitted with plows to assist with snow. Monday collections that were not collected will be picked up on Wednesday, February 19. Crews had difficulty maneuvering over snow mounds and had to prepare Sanitation trucks to be outfitted with plows for Tuesday's storm.

The Snow Emergency was lifted at 2pm on 2/14/14. Vehicles are permitted to be parked on the Snow Emergency Routes after 2pm. To report a street for salting and/or plowing along with non-shoveled sidewalks in front of residences and businesses, please contact 311.

SANITATION UPDATE - February 12, 2014
Due to the pending snow storm expected to begin late Wednesday, February 12: Collection of trash and recycling will be suspended on Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14. Residents must hold their materials until next Thursday and Friday and set out on their regular trash day at curbside. Rear driveway collections are suspended for the week of February 17. For the week of February 17th there will be a REGULAR Sanitation collection schedule.
