Thanks, Streets Dept. We often hear complaints about city services. But, this time, the Streets Department did an excellent job repaving the Krewstown Road Bridge over Pennypack Creek. As Democrat committeeman for the adjacent neighborhood, I began calling about the significant bumps and potholes, grinds and imperfections several months ago. Last winter it got worse. The potholes were brutal. I called in February and again in April and June. Work began shortly thereafter. There were keys in getting results, the three P’s: Patience; Persistence; Politeness. Job well done! Now it’s our responsibility to stay off the yellow line and stay close to the speed limit.

Kudos via Facebook [Kudos]
Unexpected uplifting scene this morning: Two school-children at the corner of 48th and Pine, the younger one needing to cross the street, the slightly older one responsible for getting her across. Little one steps into the street as a car goes through the intersection. Garbage truck at the stop sign blasts the horn. Driver of the garbage truck hops out of the truck, walks into middle of intersection to stop all traffic, guides the little one across the street, then gets back into truck -- ignoring the line of traffic backed up behind him. Way to go, driver! -- not just keeping our neighborhood clean but our kids safe as well.
