Recycling pickup today (Monday) did a great job despite the fact that most residents overfilled their bins. I thought for sure the boxes, papers, bottles would have been thrown into the street but, no, the workers did an excellent job of emptying all recyclables into the truck. Thanks.

I just want to give a big thanks to you guys. Today, on my scheduled trash pickup day, both my trash and recycling were collected in a super timely fashion, despite the mess that remains from the storm. Thank you for all your hard work. Also, thank you for plowing my block numerous times. Even though my car was blocked by the snow from the plow, I'm not complaining because I'm thankful that my street is drivable.

You did an excellent job this storm. With the amount of snow that fell you actually plowed our street and to my surprise it was salted today! In the more than 15 years that I have lived here, this is the first time I can say your department did an excellent job. Thanks to all of the Streets Department workers that have been tirelessly working to get the streets clear. I don't think people know what goes into the removal effort.

Rod M. came to my rescue while I was in the bitter cold wind and snow, he helped me dig out my stuck car, get to the side, and then get behind him so I could safely get to a main road. Because of him, I was able to safely get to my job at the hospital. I don't know what I would have done if Rod hadn't saved me. This exceptional employee is a role model of excellent customer service and dedication to the community. He went above and beyond to help a total stranger. Words cannot express my gratitude.

I was faced with the challenge of reaching someone at the Division of Highways for a street closure permit that I had applied and paid for at least a week earlier and needed the actual permit the next day. I tried calling everyone and was about to drive an hour from my job to see if I could obtain the permit in-person. J. Durant was the last person I called and she immediately begin to help me and even assure me that she would do everything in her power to keep me from driving an hour for my permit. Janice made good on her promise and within an hour I had my permit e-mailed to me. I couldn't have done it without her and she deserves great notice for saving me the frustration, hassle and perhaps even my job. Thank you for employing such an amazing person.

It was quite impressive watching them work as a team, while respecting the property of residents. Not only did they remove the tree, C. Palmer and D. Kinsey of the Bridge Maintenance Unit cleaned stray branches off lawns and in the street! They worked in safe and expeditious manner while making the effort to advise those watching to cover their faces prior to using the blower. This experience made me proud to be a resident of this city. That entire team needs to be commended and should know their efforts were greatly appreciated! Thanks for a job well done.

Kudos via Email - Paving [Kudos]
This morning a crew of 5 men came to put down asphalt over the cement in front of my house (100 block of Ellsworth). The Street Department personnel this morning were friendly, polite and did a very careful job. When I mentioned that I would like them to pay particular attention to my sunken curbstone (because of the recent flooding) one of the men said that they already knew about this request with the implication that they would certainly follow up on it. They did. I expect that this final part of a repair to a large sinkhole and separation of the asphalt of the curbstone in front of my house will put an end to the basement flooding that my husband and I experienced. So, once again, the crew did a very good job.

Kudos via Email - SWEEP Officer [Kudos]
I want to compliment a street SWEEP enforcement officer, A. Garcia, badge number 988. I happened to run into him on the street the other day and he immediately helped out with an issue (the next-door developers portable bathroom was in the street). Within a couple of hours he had it moved, and it has stayed moved, which makes the place look better, of course. We really appreciate Streets Department's help, and want the appropriate people to know.

Kudos via Email - Recycling Crew [Kudos]
I'm writing in from 3300 block of Tilden Street as I wanted to thank the recycling group for great service. The bins are always placed carefully back where they belong and pickup is regular. Today I wanted to call out a really nice young man who handed the bins back to me as I said thank you and he replied with a smile "We try". So I thought that with everyone always complaining about service- perhaps a compliment now and again might go a long way for these guys that have to work in the hot sun picking up what others won't.

Kudos via Email - Employee [Kudos]
Good Morning, On Monday, June 29,2015 at 10:10 AM I contacted the streets department in reference to the above streets being resurfaced after they were dug up since April. I expressed my frustrations to an Umie Lee who listened intently and took down all the necessary information for her to look into and give me a call back. She explained she had to e-mail the highway division to inquire what the delay was. Ms. Lee called me back at 10:27 AM to inform me the streets would be resurfaced by the end of the week. When I got home that afternoon the streets were being resurfaced. The job was completed 7/2/15 and the streets look great. I would like to commend her on quick action and not brushing me off as if it weren't her concern. There no doubt should be more caring employees like her in the work force. Hopefully you can copy her on this e-mail expressing my gratitude.
