Bicycle Lanes

"I would like to thank you and the city of Philadelphia Transportation Department for implementing and expanding the bicycle lanes. I recently moved from Chicago to Philadelphia and was delighted to see so many bicycle lanes on main roads.
I bike to work 7 miles every day mostly along Rising Sun Avenue. I save so much money by doing so. I estimate I save at least $5 a day compared to taking a car, bus, or train. $5 in savings adds up very quickly. I save $25 a week, and $1,300 a year. Not to mention my health has improved by exercising. I feel freer compared to driving and being stuck in traffic. Yuck!
So imagine if just 20,000 people biked to work every day. That would be an extra $26 million dollars in the pockets of Philadelphia residents every year. I see biking to work as the way of the future especially in large traffic congested cities. You are helping to improve the lives of Philadelphia residents, and I thank you for it."
